Development consent sought for UK-leading Keadby Carbon Capture Power Station

Energy giants SSE Thermal and Equinor have lodged the planning application for what would be one of the UK’s first power stations equipped with carbon capture technology.

Described as a major milestone in plans for greening up the Humber region, ‘Keadby Three’ is a new 900MW power station fuelled by natural gas, with the emissions abated at source.

The North Lincolnshire addition to an existing power cluster would replace older, carbon-intensive generation on the electricity grid - potentially by 2027.
