The Aura Innovation Centre (AIC) Technical Manager and former Mechanical Engineering Lecturer, University of Hull
Brian is a Mechanical Engineer by training having graduated from the University of Hull with a first-class honours degree in 2011. Since then he has focused on engineering science, initially as a Researcher, and subsequently as a Lecturer in the Faculty of Science & Engineering. His particular interest is applied science, working closely with business around innovation, growth and knowledge transfer focused on low-carbon, advanced and additive manufacturing technologies.
He joined the Aura Team in August 2021 to manage the Aura Innovation Centre’s InventX facilities. This new role provides further opportunities to drive collaboration between the University’s academic expertise with businesses, particularly small and medium size companies in the Humber region.
Brian is also an avid STEM enthusiast, spending much of his free time promoting student success and widening participation both within the University and in the wider community, through a large portfolio of co-curricular and outreach activities. He holds various positions with the Intuition of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), proactively promoting their educational initiatives. He is also regional ambassador for the Greenpower Education Trust, the charitable body responsible for the record breaking first ever UK closed road Electric Car race in Hull 2019.
